The Sangheili franticly held them away from his body, allowing the plasma to drop to the ground. Overheating, the rifles spilled out plasma. The effort seemed futile, for the deadly plasma simply flowed harmlessly off his enemy’s enhanced body shield. The Arbiter ran backwards, shooting with both of the crimson plasma rifles he had taken from the Jiralhanae. “Rrrah!” Tartarus swung his massive battle hammer at him, missing by mere inches.
I suggest not looking at them until you've read the story at least once, as there are some spoilers. I've recently added annotations containing writing notes, jokes, and attributions.
